Meet Your Coach

about me

I’m Declan Ward, the coach behind Wardactive.

I'm a strength coach, dad, and the guy behind Ward Active. For the last 10+ years I've helped busy parents in their 30s and 40s build strength, build muscle, and actually enjoy the process, without giving up their evenings, their social life, or their sanity to do it.

I've coached across the UK and Australia, in gyms and online, and if there's one thing I've learned it's this: most people don't need another extreme plan. They need something that fits the life they've already got.

my story

I got into this industry because I love training, but I stayed in it because I love watching people realise they're capable of more than they thought, especially when life is alreadyfull.

I hold a diploma in sport and exercise science from Bath College, and I've spent over a decade turning that education into real, in the trenches coaching experience.

These days I'm a dad to a young son myself, so I coach from a place of genuinely understanding the juggle. I still train hard, I compete in HYROX alongside my partner Milly, and I train alongside my mate Pip most weeks. Whatever I coach, I live it first.

my philosophy

I'm not interested in the scale obsessed, all or nothing approach that so many people have tried and burnt out on. My coaching is built around strength and muscle first, because that's what actually changes how you look, feel, and move, long after the "diet" ends.

No crash starts. No guilt when life gets in the way. Just consistent, evidence based training and nutrition that flexes around your schedule, not the other way around.
